He showed these skills while playing for the Ghana national under-17 team, also known as the Black Starlets. This was during the 2007 U-17 World Cup.

On July 3, 2010, Opare left Real Madrid Castilla to join a Belgian club called Standard Liège. He played there for four successful years. Then, on May 20, 2014, he signed with the Portuguese club Porto. This happened just before the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
