Daniel 'Dani' Eduardo Sotres Castañeda (born 21 May 1993) is a Spanish footballer. He plays as a goalkeeper. Dani was born in Santiago de Cudeyo, Spain.

Dani Sotres' Club Career
Dani Sotres started his football journey at Racing de Santander. This was a local club in his home region. He joined their youth teams and worked his way up.
Early Days at Racing Santander
Dani made his first team debut on 9 April 2012. He was almost 19 years old. He came into the game when the main goalkeeper got hurt. This was during a La Liga match against Málaga CF. His team lost that game. A few days later, he started his first match. But his team lost again. At the end of that season, Racing Santander was moved down to a lower league.
Moving to Other Clubs
For the 2012–13 season, Dani became a full member of Racing's main team. He played in 14 games. However, the team was moved down another league. In January 2014, Dani moved to Recreativo de Huelva. He had to wait a couple of months before he could start playing for them.
On 29 July 2015, Dani went back to Racing Santander. He joined them on a loan for one year. A loan means a player plays for another team for a set time. After this, he could have signed a permanent deal.
Later Career Moves
On 31 August 2016, Dani signed with Atlético Levante UD. This was another reserve team in the third division. A reserve team is where younger players or those not in the main squad play.
In July 2017, Dani joined RC Celta de Vigo. He played for their B team, Celta de Vigo B, which was also in the third division. The next year, in August 2018, he moved to Salamanca CF UDS. This team was in the same league.
Dani returned to Spain's top football league in July 2020. He signed with Cádiz CF. But he was soon loaned out again. He went to CF Rayo Majadahonda in September 2020.
In the summer of 2021, Dani joined Cultural y Deportiva Leonesa. He signed a two-year contract with them. In August, he made a mistake that led to the first goal in a new league. This was the Primera División RFEF.
Recent Club: Gimnástica
In January 2023, Dani moved to Gimnástica de Torrelavega. He joined them on a free transfer. This means a player can move to a new club without the new club paying a fee. Gimnástica plays in the Segunda Federación league.
Dani Sotres' International Career
Dani Sotres also played for Spain's national youth teams. He played for the Under-19 and Under-20 teams.
Playing for Spain Under-21s
He played one game for the Spain Under-21 team. This happened on 5 February 2013. He came on as a substitute during a friendly game. A friendly game is a match played for practice. Spain drew 1–1 with Belgium in that game.
