Daniel Zovatto Blanco (born June 28, 1991) is an actor from Costa Rica and the United States. He is known for his roles in many films and TV shows. Since 2012, he has appeared in exciting movies like Beneath (2013) and Don't Breathe (2016). He also starred in the romantic comedy Laggies (2014).

Daniel Zovatto started his TV career in 2014. He was a guest star in an episode of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.. Later, he had important roles in shows like Revenge (2014) and Fear the Walking Dead (2016). In 2018, he played a main character in HBO's Here And Now. In 2020, he became the main star of Penny Dreadful: City of Angels.

Daniel Zovatto's Early Life and Acting Journey

Daniel Zovatto Blanco was born on June 28, 1991, in San José, Costa Rica. His mother, Sylvia Blanco, was a TV personality. His father, Daniel Zovatto Garetto, was a politician from Argentina. Daniel became interested in acting at a young age. He often went with his mother to the sets of her talk shows in Costa Rica.

Daniel's father helped him become interested in thrilling movies. He remembers his father playfully scaring him while they watched The Shining. Because of this, Daniel later adopted the nickname 'Danny'. This was after the child character in that movie.

Starting His Acting Career in New York and Los Angeles

After growing up, Daniel moved to New York City. There, he started acting in theater plays. He also appeared in two short films called 55 Days and The Return. Later, he moved to Los Angeles to pursue more acting roles.

His first big movie role was in the 2013 film Beneath. He played the character Johnny. This independent movie was directed by Larry Fessenden. It was Daniel's first main role in a film. In the same year, he also starred in the drama Innocence.

Television Debut and Breakthrough Roles

In 2014, Daniel Zovatto made his first appearance on television. He was in an episode of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. called "Seeds". From May to October 2014, Daniel had a role in the TV show Revenge. He played Gideon LeMarchal, a character who dated Charlotte Grayson.

His next movie was the romantic comedy Laggies. He played Junior alongside famous actors like Chloë Grace Moretz and Keira Knightley. After this, he got a very important role in the 2014 supernatural film It Follows. He played Greg Hannigan. This movie was highly praised by critics.

Exciting Roles in Film and Television

Daniel Zovatto played a main role in Don't Breathe, a thrilling movie directed by Fede Álvarez. He played the character Money. The movie was first shown on March 12, 2016. It was released in the USA on August 26, 2016. Even though the story was set in Detroit, most of the filming happened in Hungary.

In 2016, Daniel also got a recurring role in the TV show Fear the Walking Dead. He played Jack in the show's second season. His character, Jack, talked to Alicia Clark over the radio after she responded to his distress calls. Jack and Alicia's characters had a romantic connection in later episodes. In the same year, he appeared in an episode of the From Dusk till Dawn TV series.

Later, Daniel was cast in a main role in HBO's show Here And Now. He acted alongside Oscar winners Tim Robbins and Holly Hunter. Daniel played Ramon, one of the adopted children in a diverse family. Ramon was born in Colombia and adopted as a baby. He was in a relationship with Henry. The family faced challenges when Ramon started seeing things. The show started in February 2018 but was canceled after one season.

Daniel returned to movies with two independent films, Vandal and Heavy. Vandal tells the story of Nick Cruz, a talented graffiti artist. He deals with loss, love, and the results of his actions. The movie premiered on March 7, 2019. It received good reviews. Daniel was even invited to a special event celebrating rising Latino filmmakers and actors.

In 2019, he appeared in Heavy alongside Sophie Turner. This movie was set in New York. It focused on a couple, Maddie and Seven (played by Zovatto), who live a fast-paced life. The film was shown at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival. Daniel could not attend because he was filming Penny Dreadful: City of Angels. In this show, he played the main character, Santiago "Tiago" Vega. Tiago is a young detective in 1938 Los Angeles. He struggles between his job and his family's Mexican heritage. The series premiered in April 2020.

He also starred in the movie Flinch. In 2021, Daniel returned to TV for the HBO miniseries Station Eleven. He played a character known as “The Prophet”. In 2023, he acted with Russell Crowe in The Pope's Exorcist. He played Father Esquibel. The movie was popular, and a sequel is being planned. On the set of The Pope's Exorcist, Russell Crowe encouraged Daniel to take on a role in Anna Kendrick's first movie as a director, Woman of the Hour. Anna Kendrick was very impressed by Daniel's acting in Station Eleven. The film received mostly positive reviews, praising both Anna Kendrick and Daniel Zovatto.
