Daniela Yael Krukower (born January 6, 1975) is a former professional judoka from Argentina. She was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Judo is a martial art and sport where athletes use throws and holds to defeat their opponents. Daniela became a world champion in judo, showing amazing strength and skill.

About Daniela Krukower

Daniela Krukower was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. When she was young, her family moved to Israel. It was in Israel that Daniela first started learning judo.

In the mid-1990s, Daniela was one of two very talented female judokas in Israel. Both competed in the same weight category (around 63 kg). Because only one athlete from each country can go to the Olympic Games in each category, Daniela decided to represent her birth country, Argentina.

Daniela stopped competing in judo at the start of the 2009-2010 season. This was after she won a gold medal at the 2009 Pan American Judo Championships. She felt she had achieved a lot and was ready for new challenges.

Daniela's Judo Career

In 1997, Daniela won a silver medal in judo at the 1997 Maccabiah Games in Israel. This was an early sign of her talent.

The most exciting part of Daniela's career happened at the 2003 World Judo Championships in Osaka, Japan. She was not expected to win, but she surprised everyone! In the final match, she defeated Driulis González, an Olympic gold medalist from Cuba. Daniela won by ippon, which is the highest score in judo and means an instant win. After this victory, Daniela became very famous in Argentina. People saw her as a big hope for a medal at the next Olympic Games.

At the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece, Daniela was a big favorite to win. She won her first two fights. However, in the semi-final match against Ayumi Tanimoto from Japan, Daniela broke her hand. The injury was serious, and she could not continue the competition. Because of this injury, the media in Argentina gave Daniela the nickname "Iron Lady." This showed how tough and determined she was.

After her injury, Daniela continued to compete. She achieved many successes in competitions across the Americas. In 2005, she won another silver medal at the 2005 Maccabiah Games.
