Daniyar Yeleussinov (born March 13, 1991) is a famous boxer from Kazakhstan. He was the world champion in the welterweight division for the IBO in 2021. Before becoming a professional, he was a very successful amateur boxer. He won a gold medal at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. He also won gold medals at the 2010 and 2014 Asian Games; and a gold medal at the 2013 World Championships.

Daniyar Yeleussinov's Boxing Journey
Starting as an Amateur Boxer
Daniyar Yeleussinov started boxing in 1999 when he was just eight years old. His father, Marat Yeleussinov, was his coach. An amateur boxer is someone who boxes for fun or for medals, not usually for money. They often compete in big events like the Olympics.
Daniyar quickly became very good. He won a gold medal at the 2010 Asian Games. In 2013, he had an amazing year, winning both the World Championships and the Asian Championships. He was even named the AIBA Elite Men’s Boxer of the Year twice!
Daniyar looks up to famous boxers like Serik Konakbayev and Oscar De La Hoya. When he's not boxing, he enjoys playing football, hockey, and table tennis.
Olympic Success
When the 2016 Olympic Games came around, Daniyar was the captain of the Kazakhstan Boxing Team. Many people thought he would win, and he did! He won all his fights with a clear 3-0 score, showing how skilled he was. He even beat a strong British boxer named Josh Kelly.
People often compare Daniyar's boxing style to famous boxers like Vasyl Lomachenko and Floyd Mayweather Jr.. This is because he is very fast with his hands and feet. He moves well, has great defense, and can hit very hard. Daniyar is the fourth boxer from Kazakhstan to win an Olympic gold medal in the welterweight division. He is also the first of these champions to become a professional boxer.
Daniyar said he looked up to the welterweight boxers who won gold before him, like Bakhtiyar Artayev and Serik Sapiyev. He believes they would have been world champions if they had turned professional.
Becoming a Professional Boxer
In March 2018, Daniyar decided to become a professional boxer. This means he started boxing for money and titles. He signed a contract with a company called Matchroom Sport. He was the first boxer from Kazakhstan to join their team.
Daniyar had his first professional fight on April 28, 2018. He won by a technical knockout (TKO) in the third round against Noah Kidd. A TKO happens when the referee stops the fight because one boxer cannot continue safely.
Professional Achievements
Daniyar has had a perfect record in his professional career, winning all 12 of his fights. He has won 7 of these fights by knockout. In December 2021, he won the vacant IBO welterweight title, becoming a world champion. He also won the vacant IBF Inter-Continental welterweight title in November 2020.
