The 2014 Asian Games, also known as the XVII Asiad, was a huge sports event. It took place in Incheon, South Korea. The games ran from September 19 to October 4, 2014. Athletes competed in 439 different events across 36 sports.

Incheon was chosen to host the games on April 17, 2007. It was the third city in South Korea to host the Asian Games. Seoul hosted them in 1986, and Busan hosted them in 2002.

At the end of the games, China won the most medals. South Korea came in second, and Japan was third. Athletes broke 14 World records and 27 Asian records during the event. Japanese swimmer Kosuke Hagino was named the most valuable player (MVP). Even with a few small issues, the games were seen as a big success. This was helped by the lower cost and the exciting competition between Asian countries.
