Daniel Goldman (born October 30, 1939 – died April 12, 2020) was an American actor. He was also a casting director, which means he helped choose actors for different roles. Danny Goldman was most famous for being the voice of Brainy Smurf in the popular cartoon show The Smurfs, which aired from 1981 to 1989.

Early Life and Education
Danny Goldman grew up in New York City. He graduated from Far Rockaway High School in Queens in 1957. After high school, he went to Columbia University in Manhattan and finished his studies there in 1961.
Danny Goldman's Acting Career
Danny Goldman appeared in many TV shows and movies throughout his career. One of his first roles was in the 1971 TV comedy The Good Life. He played Nick Dutton, a character who helped new staff in his family's home.
TV Show Appearances
Goldman was a guest star in many popular TV shows. These included That Girl, The Partridge Family, and Columbo. He was also a regular cast member in the comedy show Busting Loose in 1977. Later, he appeared as Ozzie the Answer in the detective show Mickey Spillane's Mike Hammer. In 2005, he had a role in an episode of the sitcom The King of Queens.
Movie Roles
Danny Goldman's first movie was MASH in 1970. He also had a small but memorable role in the comedy movie Young Frankenstein (1974). In this film, he played a medical student who asked a lot of questions. Other movies he appeared in include The Missouri Breaks (1976) and Where the Buffalo Roam (1980).
Voice Acting as Brainy Smurf
Danny Goldman is best known for his voice work as Brainy Smurf. He voiced this smart, but sometimes annoying, character for the entire run of The Smurfs TV series from 1981 to 1989.
Years later, he returned to voice Brainy Smurf for the adult animated show Robot Chicken. The creators of Robot Chicken were very excited that they got the original voice actor for Brainy Smurf. He voiced the character several times on Robot Chicken in different funny sketches.
Casting Director Work
Besides acting, Danny Goldman also worked as a casting director for almost 30 years. He helped choose actors for many TV commercials in Hollywood.
Death
Danny Goldman passed away at his home in Los Angeles on April 12, 2020. He died due to health problems from two strokes.
