Danny John-Jules, born on September 16, 1960, is a talented British actor, singer, and dancer. He is famous for his roles in popular TV shows. Many know him as Cat in the funny science fiction series Red Dwarf. He also played Barrington in the children's comedy Maid Marian and Her Merry Men. Another well-known role is policeman Dwayne Myers in the crime drama Death in Paradise. Kids might also remember him as Lenny Bicknall, the friendly caretaker, in the spy drama M.I. High on CBBC.

Early Life and Beginnings
Danny John-Jules was born in Paddington, London. He grew up in Notting Hill. From 1972 to 1977, he went to Rutherford School. There, he learned gymnastics, which helped him later in his dancing career.
His parents came to the UK from Dominica. They arrived on a ship called HMT Empire Windrush. His mother worked in the courts. Danny also has a brother who is a lawyer.
A Career in Acting and Entertainment
Danny John-Jules has been playing the character of Cat in the science fiction comedy series Red Dwarf since it started in 1988. He has been in every episode of the show. He also starred in the children's spy series M.I. High. Another fun role was Barrington in the children's series Maid Marian and Her Merry Men. Besides acting, he is also a skilled dancer and singer.
Dancing and Music
Before his TV and film work, Danny was a dancer. He was part of a group called 'second generation'. He also performed in many shows in West End theatres. He was in the first cast of Starlight Express. In that show, he played a character named Rocky I.
In 1993, he released a song from Red Dwarf called "Tongue Tied". This song became quite popular and reached number 17 on the UK music charts. His Red Dwarf co-stars even appeared in the music video. He was known simply as "The Cat" for this song.
Danny also danced in the music video for "The Edge of Heaven" by Wham!. He can be seen dancing alongside George Michael. He also danced on the Lena Zavaroni TV Series in 1981.

Danny John-Jules is very well known for playing Cat in Red Dwarf. He also played Cat's nerdy other self, Dwayne Dibbley. He got the part of Cat in a funny way. He arrived half an hour late for his audition. He was wearing his father's old zoot suit and didn't seem worried about being late. The producers thought he was cool and decided he was perfect for the role of Cat. His co-star, Craig Charles, once joked that Danny was a lot like Cat because he had so many clothes!
He has also played Barrington in Maid Marian and Her Merry Men. Another role was Byron Lucifer in The Tomorrow People. He was also Milton Wordsworth, the first presenter of The Story Makers on CBeebies. He appeared in this educational children's show from 2002 to 2004.
Danny has made guest appearances as himself on shows like Comedy Connections and Night Fever. He also played Michael's father, Trevor, in the CBBC sitcom Kerching!. From 2007 to 2008, he was Lenny Bicknall in M.I. High.

Danny John-Jules has been in several films. He provided voices for two characters in Labyrinth (1986). He also appeared in Little Shop of Horrors (1986). Later, he was in Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels (1998) and Blade II (2002).
He also played a dancer in the 1981 movie The Great Muppet Caper. In this film, he danced in a restaurant scene with Kermit and Miss Piggy.
Other Projects
Danny John-Jules lent his voice to the character of Gex in the video game Gex 3: Deep Cover Gecko in the UK and Europe. He also provided voices for the animated series Chop Socky Chooks. From 2015 to 2018, he voiced Curtis in the remake of Bob the Builder.
In 2018, Danny took part in Strictly Come Dancing. He was partnered with professional dancer Amy Dowden. In week 5, they scored very high for their jive dance. They even received the first perfect 10 score of the series!
Personal Life
Danny John-Jules is married to Petula Langlais. They have two children. Both of their children have had small acting roles alongside their father. Danny also loves motorcycles and often takes part in charity rides.
His nephew is Tyreece John-Jules, a professional footballer who played for Arsenal and now plays for Crawley Town.
