Danone North America is a large food and drink company in the United States. It makes, sells, and delivers many popular products. These include dairy items like yogurt, plant-based foods and drinks, coffee creamers, and organic produce. You can find their products across North America and in Europe.

In 2017, a French company called Danone bought WhiteWave Foods for $12.5 billion. After this, the company was first called "DanoneWave" and then "Danone North America."

How the Company Started

The company began in 1977 as "WhiteWave Foods." It was started by Steve Demos in Boulder, Colorado. His goal was to make soy products more popular in the market.

Growing Through Changes

For some time, WhiteWave Foods was part of another company called Dean Foods. Dean Foods bought WhiteWave in May 2002. Later, in August 2012, WhiteWave became its own separate company again. This happened through an "initial public offering," which means its shares were sold to the public for the first time.

WhiteWave Foods grew bigger by buying other companies. On January 2, 2014, they bought Earthbound Farm. This company was America's largest grower of organic produce.

In September 2014, WhiteWave announced they would take over So Delicious. So Delicious is a company that makes vegan desserts and drinks. The takeover was completed on October 31, 2014.

Becoming Part of Danone

On July 7, 2016, the French food company Danone announced a big deal. They planned to buy WhiteWave for $12.5 billion. WhiteWave's board of directors agreed that this was a good idea.

The deal was completed in April 2017. The new company was first named "DanoneWave." Then, in April 2018, it was renamed "Danone North America." It now operates as a part of Danone, and its main office in the U.S. is in Denver.
