Early Life and Education
Darius Mockus studied at Vilnius University. He graduated in 1988 from the Economics faculty. Since 2003, he has helped students by giving scholarships. These scholarships go to the best students in the Economics and Business Administration department.
Starting His Business Career
Mr. Mockus began his first business in the late 1980s. He ran a cooperative called "Litas". A cooperative is a business owned and run by its members. Throughout the 1990s, his career grew quickly. He gained experience managing and leading new businesses each year. Mr. Mockus also helped start the Lithuanian Free Market Institute. This group works to support a free economy in Lithuania.
