Darjuš Lavrinovič (born November 1, 1979) is a former professional basketball player from Lithuania. He is very tall, standing at 2.12 meters (about 6 feet 11 inches). He mostly played as a center, which is a player who usually plays close to the basket. Darjuš was also a key member of the Lithuanian national basketball team. In 2006, he was even chosen for the All-EuroLeague Second Team, which means he was one of the best players in Europe!

Playing Basketball Professionally

Early Career and EuroLeague Success

Darjuš Lavrinovič really shined during the 2005–06 EuroLeague season. He was playing for Žalgiris Kaunas at the time. His amazing performance earned him a spot on the All-EuroLeague Second Team. That year, he was incredible at getting rebounds, which means he grabbed the ball after a shot missed. He led both the LKL and the Baltic League in rebounds, averaging 9.8 rebounds per game in each league.

Moving to Top European Teams

In 2009, Darjuš joined Real Madrid, a very famous basketball team. The next year, he moved to Fenerbahçe in Turkey. In 2011, he signed a two-year contract with CSKA Moscow, another top team.

Later Career and Italian League Play

On August 30, 2013, he signed with Budivelnyk Kyiv. Then, on July 31, 2014, Darjuš officially joined Grissin Bon Reggio Emilia in Italy. Even though he missed the start of the season due to an injury, he played very well. He scored about 11.4 points in just 17 minutes per game. His team almost won the Italian League championship that year, losing in the final game.

Final Teams Before Retirement

Later in his career, on August 22, 2018, Lavrinovič signed with BC Prienai in the Lithuanian Basketball League. In 2019, he joined the London City Royals in the British Basketball League. His last professional team was BC Vytis in the National Basketball League, where he played until 2022.

Representing Lithuania in International Games

Darjuš Lavrinovič was also an important player for the senior Lithuanian national basketball team. He played in many big international tournaments. These included the EuroBasket 2005, the 2006 FIBA World Championship, and the 2008 Summer Olympics. He also played in the EuroBasket 2009, EuroBasket 2013, and the 2014 FIBA World Cup.

Winning Medals for Lithuania

He helped Lithuania win a silver medal at the EuroBasket 2013 tournament. He also helped his country earn a bronze medal at the EuroBasket 2007. These are big achievements for any athlete!

Family and Background

Darjuš Lavrinovič is from a Polish family living in Lithuania. He has a twin brother named Kšyštof. They even played basketball together on the same teams! They were teammates at UNICS Kazan in Russia and also played side-by-side for the Lithuanian national basketball team.
