Darren Ranco has studied a lot! He earned his first degree in 1993 from Dartmouth College. He studied anthropology, which is about human societies and cultures, and classical studies.

He then went to Harvard University. In 1997, he received a master's degree in anthropology. A year later, in 1998, he earned a special degree in environmental law from Vermont Law School. This degree focused on laws that protect our environment.

Darren Ranco has taught at several universities. He started as a professor at the University of California, Berkeley. There, he taught about different cultures and Native American studies.

Today, Darren Ranco is a professor at the University of Maine. He teaches in the Department of Anthropology and also works with Native American Programs.
