Racing in the British Touring Car Championship
First Steps in BTCC (2011)
In 2011, Dave Newsham moved up to the big leagues: the British Touring Car Championship. He started the season with Geoff Steel Racing, driving a BMW 320si. He earned a point in his very first race at Brands Hatch. However, he had a tough weekend at Donington Park, which included two retirements. This led him to leave the team.
After that, Dave joined Special Tuning Racing. He drove a NGTC SEAT León. In his first race with this new team at Oulton Park, he set the fastest lap! He also scored points in the third race there. At Snetterton, he started from pole position in one race but dropped to 8th place due to wheel damage. He finished the 2011 season in 15th place overall.
Success with Team ES Racing (2012)
For the 2012 season, Dave Newsham switched to Team ES Racing. He drove a Vauxhall Vectra. He achieved his first pole position at Brands Hatch at the start of the season. He was close to winning the first race, but another driver, Jason Plato, made contact with his car, forcing him to retire. However, he bounced back and finished third in the final race of the day.
Dave had another great result at Thruxton, finishing second in the first race. He then won his first ever BTCC race in the third race at Snetterton! He added another victory at Knockhill, which is his "local" circuit. He finished on the podium six times that season. Dave ended the 2012 season in 9th place in the drivers' standings. He also came 6th in the Independents' Trophy. To top it all off, fans voted him the official BTCC Driver of the Year!
Moving to Speedworks Motorsport (2013)
Dave Newsham tested for Speedworks Motorsport in late 2012. It was confirmed that he would join their team for the 2013 season. He finished the season in 10th place overall.
Driving for AmD (2014)

Halfway through the year, he was called back to the BTCC for two rounds. He filled in for Kelvin Fletcher. He finished 7th at his home race in Knockhill and 9th at Rockingham. He placed 22nd in the standings that year.
