Kelvin Warren Fletcher, born on January 17, 1984, is a talented English actor, model, racing driver, presenter, and farmer. He is well-known for playing the character Andy Sugden in the TV show Emmerdale. He was on the show from 1996 until 2016. In 2019, Kelvin also won the seventeenth series of Strictly Come Dancing with his dance partner Oti Mabuse.

Early Life and Beginnings
Kelvin Fletcher grew up in Greater Manchester, England. He went to Mayfield Primary School and then North Chadderton School. He is the oldest of three brothers. His younger brother, Brayden, was also a child actor. Kelvin's half-sister, Keeley Forsyth, is an actress and musician.
Kelvin started acting classes at the Oldham Theatre Workshop when he was just six years old. He first appeared on TV in a Saturday Disney report. He played Charlie in a show called Charlie Is My Darling, which he also performed at the famous London Palladium.
Kelvin's Acting Career
Kelvin's TV journey started with small roles in shows like In Suspicious Circumstances, Cracker, and Heartbeat. He even helped present an episode of You've Been Framed.
Becoming Andy Sugden in Emmerdale
In 1996, Kelvin had a small part in the TV show Coronation Street. Soon after, he joined the cast of Emmerdale. He played a character named Andy Hopwood, who was a school friend of Robert Sugden. His role was only supposed to be for three episodes. But the show liked him so much that they offered him a longer contract!
Kelvin ended up playing Andy Sugden for 20 years, appearing in over 2,100 episodes. He became one of the most popular characters on the show. He was even nominated for the Best Actor award at the British Soap Awards in 1999. He also won the Best Dramatic Performance award that same year. He left Emmerdale in 2016.
Dancing to Victory on Strictly Come Dancing
On September 8, 2019, it was announced that Kelvin would join Strictly Come Dancing. He stepped in as a replacement for another celebrity who had to leave due to an injury. Kelvin worked hard with his professional dance partner, Oti Mabuse. They danced their way to the final and won the competition! This was Oti Mabuse's first time winning the show.
Life as a Farmer and Other TV Roles
In 2021, Kelvin and his wife, Liz Marsland, bought a large farm in Wincle, Cheshire. They planned to set up a working farm. Their journey was shown in a BBC TV series called Kelvin's Big Farming Adventure, which aired in January 2022. In 2023, they filmed a new series for ITV called Fletchers' Family Farm. This show had eight episodes and a special Christmas broadcast on December 24, 2023.
Since leaving Emmerdale, Kelvin has also appeared in other TV shows. These include Death in Paradise and Moving On. In January 2022, he played Jack in The Teacher alongside actress Sheridan Smith.
Kelvin's Motor Racing Career
Kelvin first got into motor racing after visiting a car show with his dad in January 2012. He got a special racing license and won the 2012 Silverstone Classic Celebrity Challenge race. He also competed in other races like the Mighty Mini's.
In 2014, he was invited to race in the Porsche Supercup at the 2014 British Grand Prix. He finished 22nd in that race.
Racing in the British Touring Car Championship
In March 2016, Kelvin signed a contract to drive a Chevrolet Cruze for the Power Maxed Racing team. This was for the 2016 British Touring Car Championship. He missed some races because his wife was having their first child. He competed in 24 races that season but did not score any points.
Moving to British GT Championship
For the 2017 season, Kelvin moved to the British GT Championship. He shared a Nissan 370Z Nismo car with another driver, Tim Eakin. He was coached by Martin Plowman, a famous endurance racer. After three years in the GT4 category, they moved up to the GT3 class in a Bentley Continental.
Kelvin's Family Life
Kelvin Fletcher married his wife, Elizabeth Marsland, on November 28, 2015. They had known each other since they were eight years old! They have four children: a daughter, a son, and twin boys. Kelvin is also a big fan of rugby league. He grew up supporting players like Paul Sculthorpe and Kevin Sinfield. He sometimes attends special matches for famous players.
