Otlile "Oti" Mabuse is a famous dancer, TV judge, and presenter from South Africa. She was born on August 8, 1990. Oti is well-known in the United Kingdom for being a professional dancer on the TV show Strictly Come Dancing. She won this popular show twice, in 2019 and 2020.

Oti also appeared on the German version of the show, Let's Dance. She was a Dance Captain on The Greatest Dancer and a judge on The Masked Dancer. Since 2022, she has been a judge on Dancing on Ice.

Early Life and School

Oti Mabuse grew up in Pretoria, South Africa. Before becoming a professional dancer, she studied civil engineering at university. Her older sister, Motsi Mabuse, is also a professional ballroom dancer. Oti first danced professionally on the German show Let's Dance before joining the British show Strictly Come Dancing.

Oti's Dancing Achievements

Oti Mabuse won the South African Latin American Championship eight times! After that, she moved to Germany to learn even more about dancing. She has won many awards in her dancing career, including:

  • Third place in the World Cup Freestyle Latin in 2014.
  • Second place in the European Championship Latin in 2014.
  • First place in the German Championship PD Freestyle Latin.

Dancing on Let's Dance

In 2015, Oti joined Let's Dance, the German version of Strictly Come Dancing. She danced with singer Daniel Küblböck. They finished in sixth place.

Oti returned for the show's ninth season in 2016. She was partnered with TV presenter Niels Ruf. They were the first couple to leave the show that season.

Oti Mabuse became a professional dancer on Strictly Come Dancing in 2015. This is a very popular dance competition in the UK.

In her first year, she danced with Olympic boxer Anthony Ogogo. They were eliminated in Week 3.

In 2016, Oti was partnered with actor Danny Mac. They danced all the way to the final and finished as runners-up!

For the 2017 series, she danced with Paralympic sprinter Jonnie Peacock. They reached Week 9.

In 2018, Oti was paired with England cricketer Graeme Swann. They were eliminated in Week 10.

In 2019, Oti had an amazing year! She was partnered with actor Kelvin Fletcher. Kelvin joined the show last minute after Oti's original partner, Jamie Laing, got injured. Oti and Kelvin went on to win the entire series!

The next year, in 2020, Oti made history. She was partnered with comedian and actor Bill Bailey. They also won the series! This made Oti the second professional dancer to win Strictly twice, and the only one to win two years in a row.

Oti announced in April 2021 that the 19th series would likely be her last. On February 22, 2022, she confirmed she was leaving the show after seven years. Her last partner on the show was Ugo Monye in 2021.

Oti's Personal Life

In 2014, Oti Mabuse married Marius Iepure, who is also a dancer from Romania. They met in Germany. They moved to London in 2015. On Christmas Day 2023, Oti and Marius shared the happy news that they had welcomed their first child, a daughter.
