Life and Career
David Anthony Durham was born in New York City to parents with roots in the Caribbean. He lived in Scotland for many years and has had many adventures, working as an outdoor guide for rafting and kayak trips.
His love for writing led him to study at the University of Maryland, College Park, where he earned a Master of Fine Arts (MFA), which is an advanced degree for creative fields like writing. After graduating, he shared his knowledge by teaching at several colleges and universities.
Durham has won many awards for his writing. In 2009, he received the John W. Campbell Award for Best New Writer, a major honor for new science fiction and fantasy authors. He later began writing for television shows.
