Cerra's Football Journey
Cerra started his professional football career with Alicante CF. He played for this team for three seasons. During this time, Alicante CF was in a league called Segunda División B, which is one of the lower divisions in Spanish football.
Moving to Valencia CF
After playing for Alicante, Cerra, who was born in Valencia, joined Valencia CF. Even though he was 22 years old, he spent his first two years with Valencia's B-team. A B-team is like a reserve team for younger players or those getting back into shape.
He played his first season with the B-team in Tercera División. This is another lower division in Spanish football. His team managed to get promoted, meaning they moved up to a higher league.
Playing in La Liga
Cerra was a very flexible defender. He could play as a right or left full-back. A full-back is a defender who plays on the sides of the field. He got to play in five matches in La Liga, which is Spain's top football league.
His first game in La Liga was on November 5, 2006. It was an away match against RCD Espanyol, and the game ended in a 1–1 tie. Cerra got to play in these top-tier games because several of Valencia's main defenders were injured.
Loan Spells and New Teams
For the 2007–08 season, Cerra was loaned to Polideportivo Ejido. This team played in Segunda División, which is the second-highest league in Spain. After that season, Polideportivo Ejido was relegated, meaning they moved down to a lower league.
After his loan, Cerra left Valencia CF. He then joined another team from his home region, the Valencian Community, called Levante UD. In his second year with Levante, during the 2009–10 season, he played in 15 games. He helped Levante UD return to La Liga, the top league, after two years away.
