His biggest hit was in 1966 with the song "Almost Persuaded". This song was number one on the Billboard country music chart for nine weeks. David Houston also won two Grammy Awards for this song.

About David Houston
David Houston was born in Bossier City, which is in northwestern Louisiana, United States. He was related to famous historical figures like Sam Houston, who was the first president of the Republic of Texas. His godfather was a popular singer from the 1920s, Gene Austin.
David Houston started his music career early. He was one of the first artists to record with National Recording Corporation in Atlanta, Georgia. In 1963, he became famous across the country with his song "Mountain of Love". This song reached number two on Billboard's Hot Country Singles chart. Another song, "Livin' in a House Full of Love," also reached number two in 1965.
His Biggest Hit: "Almost Persuaded"
In 1966, David Houston recorded "Almost Persuaded". This song tells the story of a married man who resists temptation in a tavern. It quickly became a huge hit. In August of that year, it reached number one and stayed there for nine weeks.
For a long time, no other song stayed at number one on the country charts for as long as "Almost Persuaded." Later, in 2012, Taylor Swift's song "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" also stayed at number one for nine weeks. Her song eventually broke the record by staying at number one for a tenth week.
