David (Daudi) Mwiraria (born September 3, 1938 – died April 13, 2017) was an important politician from Kenya. He worked as a government minister, which is like a leader in a specific area of the government.
He served as the Minister for Environment and Natural Resources, helping to protect Kenya's nature. He was also the Finance Minister, managing the country's money. He held these jobs until December 2007. When Kenya had its general elections that year, he tried to be re-elected with the Party of National Unity. However, he was not re-elected; Silas Muriuki won instead.
Education and Public Service
David Mwiraria was a very educated person. He earned his master's degree in Statistics in 1966 from Makerere University in Uganda. At that time, Makerere University was part of the University of East Africa.
Later in his career, President Mwai Kibaki chose him to be the Minister for Environment on July 24, 2007. In this role, he helped make decisions about how Kenya's natural environment should be managed and protected.
Later Life and Passing
David Mwiraria passed away on April 13, 2017, in Nairobi, Kenya. He was 78 years old. His death was caused by bone cancer and problems with his breathing.
