Playing Career Highlights
Playing for the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks
David Peachey began his career with the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks in their reserve team. However, his amazing performances quickly earned him a spot in the first-grade team. He made his first-grade debut on 12 March 1994. This was in Round 1 against the Canberra Raiders at Toyota Park.
Over the next few years, Peachey became a regular player for the Sharks. His unique running style and unexpected moments of brilliance thrilled fans. He quickly became a favorite player across the league. He played in several important matches for Cronulla. This included a preliminary final loss against Manly-Warringah in 1996. The next year, he played in the 1997 Super League grand final. Cronulla lost this game to Brisbane.
In 1999, David Peachey received the prestigious Dally M award. This award recognized him as the Fullback of the Year. That same year, Cronulla finished the 1999 NRL season as minor premiers. This was one of the club's best seasons ever. Peachey played in another preliminary final loss for Cronulla in 1999. This time, they lost to St George at Stadium Australia.
He was chosen to play fullback for New South Wales in the 2000 State of Origin series. An injury kept him out of later games. But he scored the winning try in Game 1. Peachey continued to play in more preliminary finals for Cronulla. In 2001, he scored a try in a loss against the Newcastle Knights. In 2002, he played in another preliminary final loss. This was against the New Zealand Warriors.
In 2003, fans and experts named Peachey as one of the top ten Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks Legends. After twelve years with the club, he announced in 2005 that his time with Cronulla was ending. After his final game, Peachey stayed to meet his fans. He signed autographs and took photos with every fan, even in the rain.
Time with the Widnes Vikings
After leaving Cronulla, Peachey looked for a new club. He decided to move overseas to avoid playing against his old team. He signed with the Super League club, the Widnes Vikings, in England. However, the club faced financial difficulties after being relegated. Fans and the club held fundraisers to help him join. But his contract was ended on 11 May 2006 due to changes by the new club chairman.

In May 2006, the South Sydney Rabbitohs signed David Peachey. In only his second game for the club, he helped the Rabbitohs achieve a big win. They beat the second-placed Brisbane Broncos 34–14. This was a historic win, as Souths had not won against the Broncos since 1989.
In 2007, Peachey played with renewed energy. His positive attitude seemed to inspire his teammates and fans. He was known for his ability to create exciting plays from nothing. This made him a tough player for any opponent. Even at 33, he wanted to play another season with Souths. However, due to salary cap rules, he announced his retirement from the NRL on 5 July 2007. This allowed another player, Craig Wing, to join the team.
