David Vamplew is a professional poker player from Scotland. He was born in Kirkcaldy and became famous when he won a big poker tournament called the EPT-UKIPT Main Event in London in 2010. Today, he lives in Edinburgh, Scotland.

David's Early Life and Poker Start
When David Vamplew was younger, he had different jobs like delivering newspapers and working as a lifeguard. He even worked in a supermarket while he was at university. During this time, he also started playing and learning a lot about poker.
He enjoyed poker so much that he decided he wanted to play it professionally. In 2009, David finished his university studies with a degree in maths. After graduating, he decided to seriously try to make a living from playing poker.
David Vamplew's Poker Career
David Vamplew is known as one of the most successful poker players from the UK. He started his professional journey by playing in a WSOP tournament. He often plays in big international tournaments that have higher entry fees. Sometimes, he also plays in smaller local events in the UK.
Winning the EPT Main Event
David Vamplew has won one major EPT Main Event title. He has also finished in the money (meaning he won a prize) more than 30 times in other EPT events.
He won the 2010 EPT Main Event when he was just 23 years old. Before this big win, he had only won money in one other poker event. David competed against 848 other poker players in this tournament. In the final round, he played against a famous poker player named John Juanda for five hours. David won the match! After his victory, the prize money from this EPT title made David the top-earning Scottish poker player of all time.
Playing in the WSOP
In 2011, David played in the 42nd World Series of Poker Main Event. He finished in 268th place and won $40,654. In 2013, David came very close to winning a WSOP bracelet (a special prize for winners). He finished second in two different WSOP tournaments that year.
Success at the WPT
The year after his big win in London, David Vamplew also did well in a WPT event. He finished third in the WPT Venice Main Event, winning $201,855.
By 2018, David Vamplew had won over $3,800,000 from live poker tournaments.

David Vamplew now works for a company called Seamless Capital. This company is based in Cambridge, UK, and focuses on algorithmic trading.
