David W. Anderson, also known as Famous Dave, is a well-known American businessman and a former government official. He is famous for starting the popular barbecue restaurant chain called Famous Dave's. He also served in the U.S. government, helping with Native American affairs.
David Anderson is a member of the Lac Courte Oreilles Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians and has roots in the Choctaw Nation. He was born in Chicago, Illinois, and spent his childhood there and on Native American reservations in Wisconsin. Today, Famous Dave travels around the country, sharing his story and ideas. He has also written several award-winning books.

Building a Business: Famous Dave's
David Anderson is best known for creating the Famous Dave's barbecue restaurants. He started this chain, which grew to include many locations. After his success with Famous Dave's, he also launched another restaurant chain called Old Southern BBQ. He even opened a winery and a pizzeria.
Helping Native American Communities
From 2004 to 2005, David Anderson worked for the U.S. government. He was the Assistant Secretary of the Interior for Indian Affairs under President George W. Bush.
