Davidsville is a small community in Somerset County, Pennsylvania, United States. It's a place where people live and work, and it's part of a larger area called the Johnstown, Pennsylvania, Metropolitan Statistical Area. Davidsville is also part of Conemaugh Township, Somerset County, Pennsylvania, along with other nearby towns like Jerome and Holsopple. In 2000, about 1,119 people lived there.

Davidsville's Early Days

Davidsville was first planned out in 1831 by a person named David Stutzman. He worked with a surveyor, Thomas Gaghegan, to design the town.

The very first house in Davidsville was built in 1831 by Joseph Schell and Peter Levy. Soon after, in 1832, Tobias Mishler and Samuel Livingstone opened a blacksmith shop, which was very important for making and fixing metal tools. Around 1835, a schoolhouse was built, showing that education was important to the early settlers. Later, in 1852, a Lutheran church was built, providing a place of worship for the community.
