Who is Dawn Tyler Watson?
Dawn was born in Manchester, England. When she was a child, her family moved to Canada. She grew up in an area called Southwestern Ontario. Later, she moved to Montreal to study jazz music at Concordia University.
Starting Her Music Journey
Dawn first started singing blues music after she was asked to join a special album. This album featured different local blues artists. In 2001, she released her very first album, Ten Dollar Dress, with her band, the Dawn Tyler Blues Project.
Her Amazing Music Career
In 2004, Dawn also showed her acting skills! She played a jazz singer in a movie called Jack Paradise: Montreal by Night. She even sang many songs for the movie's soundtrack. For several years, she worked a lot with a guitarist named Paul Deslauriers. They recorded two albums together: En Duo in 2007 and Southland in 2013.
Winning Big Awards
In 2016, Dawn released another solo album called Jawbreaker!. The next year, in 2017, she won a major competition called the International Blues Challenge. Her album Mad Love then brought her the prestigious Juno Award in 2020.
