Dawson Tayrone Odums is a well-known American football coach. He has led several college teams. Most recently, he was the head coach at Norfolk State University from 2021 to 2024. Before that, he coached at Southern University and A&M College from 2013 to 2020. He also had a short time as interim head coach at Clark Atlanta University in 2004.
Coaching Journey
Dawson Odums has had an exciting coaching journey. He started his coaching career in 1999. He worked with different teams and roles. These included defensive line, outside linebackers, and defensive coordinator.
He became an interim head coach at Clark Atlanta University in 2004. Later, he took on the head coach role at Southern University and A&M College. He led the Southern Jaguars from 2013 to 2020. During his time there, he helped the team achieve great success.
In 2014, he signed a new contract with Southern University. This showed how much they valued his leadership. In 2021, Odums became the head coach at Norfolk State. He signed a six-year deal there.
