Where is Days Canyon?
Days Canyon is part of the huge Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest. It sits about 6.75 miles (10.86 km) east of Springville, a town in Utah. The canyon is like a smaller branch, or tributary, of a larger canyon called Right Fork Hobble Creek Canyon.
Branches of Days Canyon
Days Canyon itself has two smaller branches. Think of them like fingers extending from a hand. These are called Left Fork Days Canyon and Right Fork Days Canyon. The main canyon stretches about 4,250 feet (1,295 m) before it splits.
The Left Fork Days Canyon goes east for about 1.85 miles (2.98 km). The Right Fork Days Canyon heads south for about 1.5 miles (2.4 km). These branches add to the canyon's unique shape and size.
How Days Canyon Got Its Name
This canyon was named after an early settler named Abraham Day. He was an important person in the area's history. Abraham Day helped open a popular spot called the Cherry Picnic area. This place is now known as Cherry Campground. It's located right at the entrance of the canyon.
Hiking and Exploring
If you love hiking, Days Canyon has a great trail for you. This trail is only for day use, meaning you can't camp overnight on it. It starts in the Right Fork Hobble Creek Canyon. From there, it goes through the Left Fork Days Canyon.
The trail eventually connects with another trail in Kirkman Hollow. Kirkman Hollow is another branch of the Right Fork Hobble Creek Canyon. This makes for a fun and connected hiking experience in the mountains.
