Professional Basketball Career
Playing for the Atlanta Hawks (2016–2020)
On June 23, 2016, the Atlanta Hawks chose Bembry as the 21st pick in the 2016 NBA draft. He signed his first contract with the Hawks on July 15, 2016. He played his first NBA game on October 27, 2016. The Hawks won against the Washington Wizards. Bembry scored two points and grabbed one rebound in that game. In February 2017, he scored a season-high 10 points twice. During his first year, he also played for the Salt Lake City Stars in the NBA Development League. This helped him get more playing time and experience.
In September 2017, Bembry had to take time off due to a strained right triceps muscle. In January 2018, he had another injury, a left adductor strain, which kept him out for the rest of that month.
On October 24, 2018, Bembry had a career-high 16 rebounds. This helped the Hawks win against the Dallas Mavericks. On November 22, 2019, he led the Hawks in scoring with 22 points, which was his season high at the time.
Time with the Toronto Raptors (2020–2021)
On November 29, 2020, Bembry signed a two-year contract with the Toronto Raptors. On January 31, 2021, he scored a season-high 12 points in a win against the Orlando Magic. On April 8, Bembry was suspended for one game. This happened because he left the bench during a disagreement between the Raptors and the Los Angeles Lakers. The Raptors later waived him on August 3.
Joining the Brooklyn Nets (2021–2022)
On August 8, 2021, Bembry signed with the Brooklyn Nets. On November 27, he scored a season-high 18 points. He also grabbed 9 rebounds in a game against the Phoenix Suns. He was waived by the Nets on February 10, 2022.
