DeJuan Shontez Wheat, born on October 14, 1973, is a former professional basketball player from the United States. He played for teams like the Minnesota Timberwolves and Vancouver Grizzlies in the NBA. DeJuan was a standout player at the University of Louisville from 1993 to 1997. He made history by being the first player in NCAA Division I to achieve amazing career totals. These included at least 2,000 points, 450 assists, 300 three-point shots, and 200 steals.

College Basketball Star
DeJuan Wheat was a key player for the Louisville Cardinals. He became the second all-time leader in three-point shots for the school, with 323. He also ranks second in scoring with 2,183 points and third in assists with 498.
Senior Year Achievements
During his senior year, DeJuan was recognized as an Honorable Mention All-America by The Associated Press. He also earned Third Team All-America honors from the National Association of Basketball Coaches. The Sporting News named him Second Team All-America.
He led the Cardinals in several important categories that season. These included scoring with 17.3 points per game and assists with a career-high 4.3 per game. He also led in steals with 1.94 per game and three-point shots with a career-high 97. DeJuan played a lot, averaging 34.9 minutes per game. He had 15 games where he scored 20 or more points. He helped his hometown team reach the Elite Eight in the NCAA Tournament that season.
NBA Career and Beyond
DeJuan Wheat was chosen 52nd overall in the 1997 NBA draft by the Los Angeles Lakers. However, he was cut from the team before the regular season began.
Playing for the Timberwolves
The Minnesota Timberwolves signed DeJuan before the 1997–98 season started. He played in 34 games, but his time on the court was limited. He averaged 1.7 points in about 4.4 minutes per game.
Time with the Grizzlies
On January 29, 1999, DeJuan signed with the Vancouver Grizzlies as a free agent. He played in 46 out of 50 games that season, always coming off the bench as a reserve player. He averaged 4.5 points and 2.2 assists in about 12.8 minutes per game.
Retirement from Basketball
DeJuan Wheat continued his professional basketball career until 2010. He played his final season in Mexico for the team Soles de Mexicali.
