DeObia Oparei (born December 7, 1971) is a British actor who has appeared in many popular movies and TV shows. You might recognize them as the Gunner in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides (2011) or as Rongo in the live-action movie Dumbo (2019). They also played Loki Hayes in the series Santa Clarita Diet and Boastful Loki in the Marvel show Loki.

Early Life
DeObia Oparei was born in the Hackney area of London, England. Their parents were from Nigeria.
Acting Career
Oparei started their acting journey on the stage. They worked with famous British theater groups like The Royal Shakespeare Company and The National Youth Theatre.
Starting in Movies
Oparei's first movie role was a small part in Alien 3 in 1992. After starring in the play Six Degrees of Separation, they landed another movie role. They played "Le Chocolat" in the musical film Moulin Rouge!. In 1993, they also appeared in an episode of the British TV show Minder.
Writing for the Stage
Besides acting, Oparei is also a talented playwright, which means they write plays. Their first play was called Crazy...self. It was shown at the famous Royal Court Theatre in 2002 and received great reviews. One critic from The Guardian newspaper called the play "wild, raunchy and funny".
Famous Roles
In 2015, Oparei became part of the hit HBO fantasy show Game of Thrones. They played the character Areo Hotah in the show's fifth season.
Later, in 2017, they appeared in Santa Clarita Diet as the character Loki Hayes. In 2019, they joined the Marvel universe in the TV series Loki, where they played a version of Loki known as Boastful Loki.
