DeShawn Wynn, born on October 9, 1983, is a former American professional football player. He played as a running back in the National Football League (NFL) for four seasons. Wynn played college football for the Florida Gators. He was part of their team that won the National Championship in 2006. The Green Bay Packers chose him in the 2007 NFL draft. He also played for the New Orleans Saints and San Francisco 49ers in the NFL.

Early Life and High School Football

DeShawn Wynn was born in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1983. He went to Reading High School in Reading, Ohio. There, he played high school football for the Reading Blue Devils team.

In his senior year (2001), he was known as one of the best high school running backs in the country. He ran for 2,283 yards and scored thirty touchdowns. Wynn ran for over 2,000 yards in three of his four years. He also played as a linebacker and safety. In 2002, Parade magazine named him a high school All-American.

College Football Career

Wynn received a scholarship to attend the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida. He played for the Florida Gators football teams from 2003 to 2006. His coaches were Ron Zook and Urban Meyer.

He was the starting running back when the Gators won the 2007 BCS National Championship Game. They beat the Ohio State Buckeyes 41–14 in that big game. During his four years in college, Wynn ran for 2,077 yards. He also caught passes for 376 yards and scored twenty-five touchdowns.

Professional Football Career

Green Bay Packers

The Green Bay Packers picked DeShawn Wynn in the seventh round of the 2007 NFL draft. He played for the Packers for three seasons, from 2007 to 2009.

Wynn scored his first two professional touchdowns against the New York Giants. This happened in Week 2 of the 2007 NFL season. He also scored a touchdown in back-to-back games. These were against the Chicago Bears and the Washington Redskins.

On October 29, 2007, during a game against the Denver Broncos, Wynn hurt his shoulder. This happened on his very first run of the game. Because of this injury, he could not play for the rest of the season. He finished that season with 203 rushing yards and four touchdowns.

The Packers released Wynn on August 25, 2008. However, they re-signed him to their practice squad a few days later. He stayed on the practice squad until October 11. Then, he was moved to the main team roster. He played in five games that season. He ran for 110 yards, including a 73-yard touchdown run against the Detroit Lions.

New Orleans Saints (First Time)

Wynn signed with the New Orleans Saints on August 23, 2010. He was released about a month later. The Saints then signed him to their practice squad the next day. He was later moved back to the main team roster on October 2. He was released again on October 12.

San Francisco 49ers

On November 5, 2010, Wynn joined the San Francisco 49ers practice squad. He was later moved to their main team roster. This happened after another player, Frank Gore, got hurt. On December 27, 2010, the 49ers released Wynn.

New Orleans Saints (Second Time)

Wynn signed with the New Orleans Saints again on January 3, 2011.

Saskatchewan Roughriders

On March 13, 2012, it was announced that Wynn had signed with the Saskatchewan Roughriders. This team plays in the Canadian Football League (CFL).
