Deanna Lund (born May 30, 1937 – died June 22, 2018) was an American actress. She was best known for her role as Valerie Ames Scott in the TV show Land of the Giants. This show was created by Irwin Allen.

Her Early Life
Deanna Lund was born in Oak Park, Illinois. Her father, Arthur Lund, was a lawyer. When she was eight, her family moved to Daytona Beach, Florida.
She started studying drama at Rollins College. However, she left college to get married. Before acting, she worked as a secretary and a model. She also did TV commercials and was a weather person for a TV station.
Becoming an Actress
Deanna Lund began her acting career in the 1960s. She had small parts in movies like Dr. Goldfoot and the Bikini Machine (1965) and Dimension 5 (1966). She also appeared in the horror film Sting of Death (1965).
In 1967, she was in the movie Tony Rome with Frank Sinatra. Her acting in this film was well-liked. This led to her biggest role in the TV series Land of the Giants.
Land of the Giants and Other Work
In Land of the Giants, Deanna Lund played Valerie Ames Scott. The show was about a group of people who crash-land on a planet where everything is huge.
While waiting for Land of the Giants to start filming, she was offered a role in the movie Rosemary's Baby. But she had to turn it down because of her schedule with the TV show.
Later, Deanna Lund wrote a book called Valerie in Giantland. This story was based on the Land of the Giants series. It was told from her character Valerie's point of view.
In 1976, she acted in the TV drama General Hospital. She played Peggy Lowell, a secretary. Her husband at the time, Don Matheson, also acted in this show. Deanna Lund continued to act in movies like Hardly Working (1980) and Stick (1985). She also appeared in horror films such as Elves (1989).
Her Family Life
Deanna Lund married her high school sweetheart. They had two children together. After her first marriage ended, she married her Land of the Giants co-star, Don Matheson. They had a daughter named Michele Matheson, who also became an actress.
Deanna Lund passed away on June 22, 2018. She was 81 years old. She died at her home in Century City, California.
