Early Life and School

Deanna Wong grew up in Minglanilla, Cebu, Philippines. She attended Saint Theresa's College of Cebu for elementary school. For high school, she studied at the University of San Jose–Recoletos. Later, for college, she went to the Ateneo de Manila University. There, she took up a course called AB Interdisciplinary Studies.

Deanna first started playing indoor volleyball when she was in sixth grade. She joined her school's intramural games because her best friend invited her. She continued to play volleyball throughout high school. After high school, she was invited to train for three weeks at both the San Sebastian College-Recoletos and the Ateneo de Manila University.

Playing in College (UAAP)

By March 2015, Deanna was chosen to be part of the Ateneo de Manila University's collegiate women's volleyball team. She became a rookie in the 2016 UAAP Season 78. Her coach at the time was Anusorn "Tai" Bundit.

The Ateneo Lady Eagles won the championship for UAAP Season 81 in 2019. This was a big achievement for the team. Deanna took a break from playing for Ateneo during Season 82. She was planning to return for UAAP Season 83, but that season was canceled because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Even though she could have played in UAAP Season 84, she decided to move on to play in the Premier Volleyball League.
