Deanna Wong's Volleyball Journey
Deanna started playing indoor volleyball when she was in sixth grade. Her best friend invited her to play in a school sports event called intramurals. She loved the sport and continued playing throughout high school. She was then invited to train with top college teams.
Playing in the UAAP
In March 2015, Deanna was chosen to join the Ateneo de Manila University's women's volleyball team. She became a rookie player in 2016 during UAAP Season 78. She first played as a libero in 2017 (UAAP Season 79). The next year, for UAAP Season 80 in 2018, she became the team's setter. This is when she won the Best Setter award.
After getting a bronze medal in 2018, Deanna and the Ateneo Lady Eagles won the championship in UAAP Season 81 in 2019. Deanna took a break from playing for Ateneo in UAAP Season 82. Even though she could have played in UAAP Season 84, she decided to play in the Premier Volleyball League instead.
Playing in the PVL
Deanna played in the 2019 Premier Volleyball League Season 2 Open Conference. Her team, Ateneo de Manila University (partnered with Motolite), reached the finals. However, they were defeated by the Creamline Cool Smashers. In 2021, Deanna played in Season 4 Open Conference with the Choco Mucho Flying Titans. This team is owned by Republic Biscuit Corporation.
