Part of Yukon Plateau or Cassiar Mountains

The Dease Plateau is a large, flat area of land that is higher than the land around it. Think of it like a giant, elevated table! It's part of an even bigger area called the Yukon Plateau. You can find the Dease Plateau in the far northern part of British Columbia, Canada. It stretches northwest from the Deadwood River all the way to the border with the Yukon territory.

This plateau gets its name from nearby places like Dease Lake and the Dease River. Even though it's called a plateau, some parts of this huge area are quite mountainous. Because of this, some people also consider it a part of the Cassiar Mountains.

What are Subranges?

Sometimes, a larger mountain range or plateau can have smaller, distinct groups of mountains or hills within it. These smaller groups are called "subranges." They are like smaller sections of a bigger geographical area.

Mountains within the Dease Plateau

Even though the Dease Plateau is mostly a flat, high area, it includes some mountain groups. One important subrange found here is the:

  • Horseranch Range

This range adds to the varied landscape of the Dease Plateau, showing that not all plateaus are perfectly flat!
