Deborah Kennedy is an Australian actress. She is famous for her many roles in television and films. Many people know her from the well-known Australian Yellow Pages advertisement where she said the line "Not happy, Jan!".

Deborah Kennedy's Acting Journey

Deborah Kennedy started her acting career on the stage. She performed in plays like The Trojan Woman and Macbeth at the Marian Street Theatre. She also worked with other theatre groups, including the Nimrod theatre, where she acted in Much Ado About Nothing and Richard III.

In the 1970s, Deborah began acting in television shows. Some of her early TV appearances were in Certain Women, Silent Number, and Doctor Down Under. Around the same time, she also appeared in films such as Tim (1979), which starred Mel Gibson.

During the 1980s, she had a short guest role in the soap opera Prisoner. In 1991, she became a regular cast member in the TV show Chances. She played a nurse named Connie Reynolds for several months. In the 1990s, she continued to make guest appearances in TV series like Police Rescue, Wildside, and Good Guys Bad Guys.

Deborah also played supporting roles in many movies. These included Death in Brunswick (1991), The Sum of Us (1994), and Swimming Upstream (2003). She also appeared in children's TV shows like Johnson and Friends and Boffins.

One of her most famous moments was delivering the line "Not happy, Jan!" in a TV commercial for the Yellow Pages. This line became very popular in Australia.

In the 2000s, Deborah continued her TV work. She had guest roles in shows like MacLeod's Daughters. From 2006, she played Mishka Schneiderova in the soap opera Neighbours. Mishka was Lou Carpenter's Russian partner whom he met online. Deborah also appeared in the comedy series The Jesters in 2009. She had guest roles in other popular shows like Dance Academy, Rake, and Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries.

Since 2013, Deborah Kennedy has been a regular cast member in the Australian drama A Place to Call Home. She plays Doris Collins, a friendly local who loves to gossip. She also had a small role in the first season of the ABC's Janet King.
