Deborah Iona Raffin (born March 13, 1953 – died November 21, 2012) was an American actress, director, writer, and even a publisher of audiobooks. She was well-known for her acting, especially in the 1981 movie Touched by Love.

Early Life

Deborah Raffin was born in Los Angeles, California, on March 13, 1953. Her father, Phillip J. Raffin, was an executive, and her mother, Trudy Marshall, was an actress. Both of her parents were from Brooklyn, New York. Deborah grew up in Los Angeles.

Acting Career

Deborah Raffin had many roles in movies and on television. In 1985, she played Kathryn Davis in the movie Death Wish 3. Later, in 1988, she starred alongside Pierce Brosnan in the TV mini-series Noble House.

She also appeared in the 1991 film Scanners II: The New Order as Julie Vale. Many young viewers might remember her from popular TV shows. She played Aunt Julie on 7th Heaven and Dr. Hightower in the ABC Family series The Secret Life of the American Teenager.

Awards and Nominations

For her role in Touched by Love in 1981, Deborah Raffin was nominated for two awards. She was considered for a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a movie. She was also nominated for a Razzie Award for Worst Actress.

Personal Life and Health

Deborah Raffin was married to Michael Viner. They were married from 1975 until they divorced in 2005. Together, they had a daughter named Taylor Rose Vinner.

In 2011, Deborah was diagnosed with leukemia, which is a type of blood cancer.

Later Years and Passing

Sadly, about a year after her diagnosis, Deborah Raffin passed away. She died on November 21, 2012, at the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles, California. She was 59 years old. Her daughter, Taylor Rose, survived her.
