Where Does Deepwater Creek Start?

Deepwater Creek begins when two smaller streams meet. These are called North Deepwater Creek and South Deepwater Creek. This meeting point, also known as a confluence, is in western Henry County. It is located southeast of the community of Johnstown.

Journey Through Henry County

After starting, Deepwater Creek flows mainly towards the east. Along its path, it goes under Missouri Route K, which is a road north of Germantown.

The stream then widens to form Montrose Lake. This lake is found within the Montrose Conservation Area. It's a place where people can enjoy nature.

Below the dam at Montrose Lake, the creek continues its journey east. It flows past the town of La Due to the south. Further along, it passes north of the town of Deepwater.

Finally, Deepwater Creek reaches its end point. It flows into the Truman Reservoir, a large body of water in Missouri. This happens west of the Missouri Route 13 bridge.

What's in a Name?

The name "Deepwater" comes from how the stream was described. People called it a "stream of deep water." This name became popular in the area. It was also used for a school, a village post office, and even a township nearby.
