The Delaware Contemporary is a special place in Delaware where you can see amazing contemporary art. It's like a big art gallery that shows new and exciting artwork from artists who live nearby, across the country, and even from other parts of the world. It opened its doors in 1979 and got its current name in 2015.
About The Delaware Contemporary
This museum is unique because it doesn't collect art to keep forever. Instead, it focuses on showing new and exciting artwork from artists who live nearby, across the country, and even from other parts of the world. This means there's always something new to see!
What You'll Find Inside
In 2000, The Delaware Contemporary moved to a cool spot called the Riverfront in Wilmington, Delaware. The building is really big, about 33,000 square feet! Inside, you'll find seven art galleries where the art is displayed. There are also 26 art studios where artists can create their work. The building also has an auditorium, a classroom for learning, a museum shop, and offices.
Visiting the Museum
Good news for families! In 2008, the museum stopped charging money to see the galleries. This was done to help families have more affordable ways to enjoy art, especially during tough economic times. So, you can visit and explore the art without paying an entrance fee.
