The Delaware Contemporary is a special place in Delaware. It is the only museum in the state that focuses on contemporary art. This means it shows art made in our time, usually from the 1960s or 1970s until now.
The museum started in 1979. Back then, it was called the Delaware Center for Contemporary Arts (DCCA). In 2015, it changed its name to The Delaware Contemporary. This museum does not collect art to keep forever. Instead, it focuses on showing new works. It features art from local artists, artists from nearby regions, and even artists from other countries.

What You'll Find Inside

These are places where artists can work and create their art. The building also has an auditorium for events. There is a classroom for learning about art. Visiting the Museum
The Delaware Contemporary wants everyone to be able to enjoy art.
Free Admission for Everyone
In 2008, the museum made a big change. It stopped charging money to see the art in its galleries. This was done to help families. During that time, many families needed more affordable ways to enjoy culture. This was during a period called the Great Recession, when many people faced economic challenges. Making admission free helps more people experience art.
