About Delree Dumont
Delree Dumont was born in Chilliwack, British Columbia. She is a member of the Onion Lake Cree Nation in Saskatchewan. Before becoming a full-time artist in 2014, she worked in Alberta's oil and gas industry. Today, she creates her art from her home studio.
Her Artistic Style
Delree Dumont's early paintings looked very realistic. Now, she mostly uses a style called pointillism. This means she creates images using many tiny dots of color. Her main art material is acrylic paint. She also uses oil and watercolor for some of her pieces. A lot of her art is inspired by her experiences as an Indigenous person.
Public Appearances
In 2018, Delree Dumont was invited to a special event. It was held by the Indigenous Tourism Association of Canada. This event took place at the Canadian embassy in Germany. During the event, Delree painted live in front of an audience. This showed her amazing skills to many people.
