High School Hoops
Denham Brown was a star basketball player in high school. He went to Bathurst Heights Secondary School in Toronto. In 2000, he helped his team win the championship for their province, Ontario. During his junior year, he scored an amazing 30 points per game!
Later, he moved to West Hill Collegiate Institute for his final year. In 2002, something incredible happened. Denham scored 111 points in just one game against R. H. King Academy! This huge achievement made him famous. He was even featured in SLAM magazine. People were also excited because he had decided to play for a top college team at the University of Connecticut (UConn).
College Career
Denham Brown played college basketball for the UConn Huskies. In 2004, when he was a sophomore, his team won the national championship. This is a very big deal in college basketball!
In his last year at UConn (the 2005–06 season), he averaged 10.7 points, 1.3 assists, and 4.4 rebounds per game. He helped the Huskies win the Maui Invitational in November with a last-second shot. His highest score in a game that season was 23 points against Villanova.
Denham was known for making important plays when the game was close. In a big tournament game in 2006, he made a shot right at the end to force overtime. Even though his team lost that game, he showed he could perform under pressure.
NBA Draft and D-League
In 2006, Denham Brown was chosen by the Seattle SuperSonics in the 2006 NBA draft. He was the 40th player picked overall. He played in a couple of preseason games for the SuperSonics. However, he was later waived, meaning the team let him go.
After that, he joined the Tulsa 66ers in the NBA D-League. He played very well there, scoring almost 19 points per game. He also played for other D-League teams like the Dakota Wizards and the Iowa Energy.
Playing Overseas
Denham Brown also played professional basketball in many different countries. After leaving the Tulsa 66ers, he played in Turkey for Galatasaray Café Crown. He also played in Italy for Tisettanta Cantù.
In 2010, he played for a team in the Philippines called the Barangay Ginebra Kings. He also joined Asseco Prokom Gdynia, a team in Poland that had won their league championship twice.
Canadian National Team
Denham Brown has a lot of experience playing for the Canadian national team. He first joined the team in 2003. He played in many international tournaments, showing off his skills against players from other countries. He was a key player for Canada, scoring points and grabbing rebounds. He played for the team again in 2004, 2005, and 2007.
NBL Canada
In 2011, Denham signed a deal to play in the National Basketball League of Canada for the Oshawa Power. This was a special chance for him to play professional basketball in his home country, close to where he grew up in the Greater Toronto Area.
