Denise Gough (born 28 February 1980) is a talented actress from Ireland. She is well-known for her roles in TV shows like Paula (2017), Too Close (2021), and the popular Disney+ series Andor (2022–2025). She has also starred in movies such as Colette (2018) and Martyrs Lane (2021). Denise has won several important awards, including two Laurence Olivier Awards, which are big awards for theatre in London. Her Early Life
Denise Gough was born on February 28, 1980. She was born in Wexford, Ireland, and grew up in Ennis, County Clare. She is one of eleven children, and her younger sister, Kelly Gough, is also an actress.
When Denise was 15, she moved to London. She later received a special grant to study acting at the Academy of Live and Recorded Arts (ALRA) when she was 18. She finished her studies there in 2003.
Her Theatre Career
Denise Gough has had a very successful career in theatre. In 2012, she was nominated for an award for her performances in plays like Desire Under the Elms and Our New Girl.
In 2015, she gave an amazing performance in a play called People, Places and Things at the Royal National Theatre in London. She played a character who was recovering from difficult experiences. This role was very popular, and she later won the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actress for it in 2016.
In 2017, Denise returned to the National Theatre to star in Angels in America. For her role in this play, she won another Laurence Olivier Award in 2018, this time for Best Actress in a Supporting Role. She also performed in the Broadway version of Angels in America in New York City.
