Dennis Leonard Lundy (born July 6, 1972) is an American former professional football running back. He played for one season in the National Football League (NFL). During his time in the NFL, he was part of the Houston Oilers and Chicago Bears teams. Before turning professional, he played college football at Northwestern University.
Early Life and College Football
Dennis Leonard Lundy was born on July 6, 1972, in Tampa, Florida. He grew up in Tampa and went to George D. Chamberlain High School there.
After high school, Lundy played college football for the Northwestern Wildcats. He was a key player for Northwestern University from 1991 to 1994. In 1991, he ran for 568 yards and scored two touchdowns. He also caught 16 passes. The next year, in 1992, he gained 688 rushing yards and scored four touchdowns. He also had 30 catches for 260 yards.
As a junior in 1993, Lundy rushed for 617 yards and six touchdowns. He also caught 23 passes, scoring one touchdown through the air. His best year was his senior year in 1994. He ran for a career-high 1,189 yards and scored eight touchdowns. He also caught 11 passes that season.
Professional Football Career
After college, Dennis Lundy was not chosen in the 1995 NFL draft. However, he signed with the Houston Oilers on May 3, 1995. He joined the team as a professional player.
Lundy played in seven games for the Oilers during the 1995 season. He caught one pass for 11 yards. He also returned two kicks for a total of 28 yards.
Later in the 1995 season, Lundy joined the Chicago Bears. He played in two games for the Bears. For this team, he returned one kick for 11 yards. He also returned one punt. Lundy finished his professional football career after the 1995 season.
