Dequan Finn's Early Football Days

Dequan Finn went to Martin Luther King High School in Detroit, Michigan. In his final year, he was an amazing player. He threw for 25 touchdowns and gained 2,104 yards. He also ran for 21 touchdowns and 1,264 yards.

Finn led his high school team to win a state championship. He was also named the 2018 Mr. Football Michigan. This award goes to the best high school football player in Michigan. Finn first planned to play for Central Michigan. But he changed his mind and chose Toledo instead. This happened after Central Michigan's coach was no longer with the team.

Playing College Football

Time with the Toledo Rockets

Dequan Finn didn't play much in his first two years at Toledo. He was a "red-shirt" freshman in his first year. This means he practiced with the team but played in very few games. It helps players develop without using up a year of their college playing time.

In 2021, Finn started playing more. He threw for 18 touchdowns and only two interceptions. He also ran for nine touchdowns. Before the 2022 season, Finn was named to the preseason Maxwell Award watch list. This list includes players who are expected to be the best in college football.

On October 15, 2022, Finn had an amazing game. He tied a school record by throwing six touchdowns. This helped Toledo come back to win 52–31 against Kent State. He then set a new school record by scoring seven touchdowns in total. He added one rushing touchdown to his six passing ones.

In 2022, Finn led the Rockets to win their first MAC West championship since 2017. He was named the offensive MVP in the 2022 MAC Championship Game. He also won the offensive MVP award in the 2022 Boca Raton Bowl. In 2023, Finn was named the MAC Most Valuable Player. He led Toledo to a great 11–2 record. He passed for 2,657 yards and 22 touchdowns that year. After the season, he decided to look for a new team. He entered the transfer portal on December 4, 2023. The transfer portal is like a list where college athletes can say they want to switch schools.

A Short Stop at Baylor

On December 17, 2023, Finn announced he would transfer to Baylor University. He joined the Baylor Bears team. He was named the starting quarterback for the first game of the 2024 season. In his first game at Baylor, he threw for 192 yards and scored three touchdowns. He led the Bears to a 45–3 victory.

He only played in three games during the 2024 season. He then asked for a medical hardship waiver. This was to try and get an extra year to play college football. On December 13, 2024, Finn entered the transfer portal again.

Joining the Miami RedHawks

On January 5, 2025, Finn shared his decision. He announced he would transfer to Miami University. He will now play for the Miami RedHawks.
