Playing in the NFL
In 1989, Derek Hill was chosen by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 1989 NFL Draft. This means the Steelers picked him to join their team. He was picked in the third round, as the 61st player overall. He played for the Steelers for two seasons, from 1989 to 1990. The NFL is the biggest professional football league in the United States.
Other Professional Teams
After his time in the NFL, Derek Hill continued his football career. He played in other leagues, including the Canadian Football League (CFL). He was a member of the Toronto Argonauts in 1992. Later, he played for the Shreveport Pirates in 1994.
