Derrick Paul Brown (born September 8, 1987) is an American former professional basketball player. He is 6 feet 8 inches tall. Derrick played as a power forward.

Derrick Brown's Early Life and College Years
High School Basketball
Derrick Brown was a talented basketball player in high school. Experts thought he was one of the best small forwards in the country in 2005.
College Basketball Journey
After high school, Derrick went to Xavier University. He played college basketball for the Xavier Musketeers from 2005 to 2009.
Derrick Brown's Professional Career
Playing for the Charlotte Bobcats (2009–2012)
In 2009, Derrick Brown was chosen by the Charlotte Bobcats in the NBA draft. He was the 40th player picked overall. He signed a two-year contract with the Bobcats in July 2009.
Later, in February 2011, the Bobcats let him go. This happened after a trade with the Thunder. But he didn't stay without a team for long! The New York Knicks quickly signed him in March 2011.
Derrick returned to the Bobcats in December 2011. He played 65 games in the 2011–12 NBA season. This season was shorter than usual because of a player lockout. During this time, he played his best, averaging 8.1 points and 3.6 rebounds per game.
In 2012, the Bobcats offered him a new contract. However, they later took back the offer. This made him a "free agent," meaning he could sign with any team. He briefly signed with the San Antonio Spurs but didn't make their final team roster.
Playing in Europe: Lokomotiv Kuban (2012–2015)
In October 2012, Derrick moved to Russia to play for Lokomotiv Kuban Krasnodar. He signed a three-year contract with them. He was recognized as one of the best players in the EuroCup in 2013.
In the 2013–14 season, he started playing in the EuroLeague. This is a top basketball league in Europe. In 23 EuroLeague games, he averaged 13.9 points and 4.5 rebounds.
Playing in Turkey: Anadolu Efes (2015–2018)
Derrick then moved to Turkey in June 2015. He signed a two-year contract with the team Anadolu Efes. He extended his contract with them in 2017.
In his third season with Anadolu Efes (2017–18), he played less. He averaged 7.2 points and 2.3 rebounds in 19 EuroLeague games. After this season, he left the team. He did not play basketball for the entire 2018–19 season.
Playing in Serbia: Crvena zvezda (2019–2020)
In June 2019, Derrick signed a one-year deal with the Serbian team Crvena zvezda. He played with them until February 2020, when he was released from his contract.
