Desune "Des" Fitzgerald Coleman (born on March 14, 1965) is a talented English actor, singer, and weather presenter. He has performed in many stage musicals. Des is well-known for playing the character Lenny Wallace in the BBC soap opera EastEnders. Today, he presents the weather for Good Morning Britain and ITV News Central.

Des Coleman's Career Journey
Early Life and Acting Training
After finishing school at age 16, Des Coleman first worked as a welder. However, he soon decided he wanted to perform. He went to the Guildford School of Acting in Surrey to train. After graduating in 1993, he worked as a singer in Germany. He performed in the musical Chicago for six months. Later, he got a main role in the musical Miss Saigon.
Television Roles and Stage Performances
In 1996, Des Coleman joined the cast of the popular BBC soap opera EastEnders. He played the character Lenny Wallace. This was his first job on television. He stayed with the show until 1999.
After EastEnders, Des appeared in other TV shows. These included Is Harry on the Boat? (2001), Casualty (2003), The Bill (2004), and Doctors (2004 and 2006). He also acted in the 2001 film Submerged with Sam Neill.
On stage, Des performed in London's famous West End. He was in musicals like Rent and Simply Heavenly. He also learned the main role in Trevor Nunn's musical opera Porgy and Bess. Des Coleman is also a reporter for The One Show.
Becoming a Weather Presenter
Des Coleman's career took a new turn when he worked for BBC Radio Derby. He was asked to present the weather report. This led him to train as a weather presenter. In 2007, he started presenting for BBC's East Midlands Today television. He left this role in 2011.
He also reported for Inside Out and Politics Show for BBC East Midlands. In March 2016, he presented for BBC Radio Nottingham. Later in 2016, he joined ITV Central's ITV News Central as their weather presenter.
In September 2020 and August 2021, Des Coleman was a guest weather presenter for ITV Breakfast’s Good Morning Britain. He also performs on stage as singer Sammy Davis Jr. in a show called The Rat Pack. In this show, he performs alongside people who pretend to be Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin.
Des Coleman's Personal Life
In November 2018, Des Coleman had a serious health issue. He needed surgery and spent time recovering. He made a full recovery three months later in February 2019. In April 2020, he self-isolated to stay safe during the COVID-19 pandemic.
