Inside Out was a popular TV show on BBC One in England. It was a special kind of program because each version focused on interesting stories from a specific local area. Think of it like a news show, but all about what was happening right in your region!
The show started on September 9, 2002, and ran for many years, ending on March 30, 2020. It was replaced by a new show called We Are England. The new show covers fewer regions and focuses on one main topic per episode, with different regional takes on that subject.
Regional Versions of Inside Out
Inside Out had many different versions. Each one was made for a specific part of England. This meant that people in London saw stories about London, while people in the North West saw stories from their area.
Here are some of the regional versions of the show:
- Inside Out London – Hosted by Sean Fletcher
- Inside Out South East – Hosted by Natalie Graham
- Inside Out South – Hosted by Jon Cuthill
- Inside Out South West – Hosted by Jemma Woodman
- Inside Out West – Hosted by Alastair McKee
- Inside Out West Midlands – Hosted by Ayo Akinwolere
- Inside Out North West – Hosted by Jacey Normand
- Inside Out North East & Cumbria – Hosted by Chris Jackson
- Inside Out Yorkshire & Lincolnshire – Hosted by Keeley Donovan (from September 2017)
- Inside Out East Midlands – Hosted by Lukwesa Burak
- Inside Out East – Hosted by David Whiteley
- Inside Out Channel Islands – This version started in early 2012
There was also a show called Inside Out England. This program showed a selection of the best stories from all the different regional Inside Out shows. It was first hosted by Matthew Wright. Later, in 2016, it was relaunched as a weekly summary show on the BBC News channel, with Lukwesa Burak as the presenter.
