Devin Marie Logan (born February 17, 1993) is an American freeskier. She grew up in Oceanside, New York, and now lives in West Dover, Vermont. Devin is famous for winning a silver medal in the women's slopestyle event at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia.
Early Life and Training
Devin Logan was born in Oceanside, New York. She was the youngest of five children. Her family was very athletic. Devin wanted to ski just like her older brothers. Two of her brothers even became professional skiers!
When she was younger, Devin also played youth football. She was part of the Baldwin Bombers team from ages 8 to 10. Before high school, Devin moved to Vermont. She went there with her mother and siblings. This move allowed her to train at the Mount Snow Academy. In 2014, she was also taking classes at Westminster College in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Skiing Career Highlights
Devin Logan started her competitive skiing career in 2010. She quickly showed her talent. In 2012, she won a silver medal at the Winter X Games. This was for the slopestyle competition.
Later in 2012, Devin faced a big challenge. She had a serious knee injury that needed surgery. But Devin worked hard to recover. She came back stronger than ever. In 2014, she competed in the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi. She won a silver medal in the first-ever Olympic slopestyle event. Her score in that event was 85.40.
During the 2015 season, Devin continued to succeed. She earned two podium finishes in Grand Prix events. She also won the halfpipe event at the Canadian Open Championship. In 2016, she dislocated her shoulder, but she kept pushing forward.
Devin Logan was awarded the overall crystal globe. This award goes to the most consistent skier in International Ski Federation (FIS) freestyle events. She was the first freeskier to win this special award. At that time, Devin was also the only woman to compete in both slopestyle and halfpipe events.
When it's summer, Devin often goes to Mt. Hood, Oregon. There, she hosts a "Takeover Session" at Windells Camp. She helps other young skiers improve their skills.
