Devontae Calvin Cacok (born October 8, 1996) is an American professional basketball player. He has played for teams in the NBA and in Europe. He is known for his strong rebounding skills. Cacok even led the entire nation in rebounding during his college career. He also won an NBA championship with the Los Angeles Lakers.

Early Life and First Steps in Basketball
Devontae Cacok was born in Chicago, Illinois. He grew up in Riverdale, Georgia. As a young boy, he first played football, mainly on the offensive line.
He started playing basketball in eighth grade. This happened after he broke his wrist, which ended his football season. Devontae says he was not very good at basketball at first. But he grew seven inches when he was a sophomore. This growth spurt helped him join his high school's main basketball team. In his final year at Alpharetta High School, he was a star player. He scored about 22 points and grabbed 12 rebounds per game. He also helped his team win a regional title.

Freshman and Sophomore Years
As a freshman, he played off the bench. He averaged 3.3 points per game. In his sophomore year, he became a key player. He averaged 12.2 points and 9.8 rebounds per game. He also led the nation in field goal percentage, making 80% of his shots. This was the highest percentage ever recorded! He mostly shot the ball very close to the basket. He also had 40 blocks. He was named the CAA Defensive Player of the Year. He was also chosen for the Third Team All-CAA.
Junior and Senior Years
After his sophomore year, the team got a new coach. Devontae worked to improve his all-around game. In February 2018, he had an amazing game against Elon. He scored 17 points and grabbed 21 rebounds. In the next game, he scored 29 points and had 17 rebounds. These great games earned him CBS Sports Player of the Week honors.
As a junior, Devontae led all college players in rebounding. He averaged 13.5 rebounds per game. He also scored 17.8 points per game. He had 22 "double-doubles," which means he got at least 10 points and 10 rebounds in 22 games. This was the second-highest in the country. He was named to the First Team All-CAA.
In his senior year, Devontae continued to shine. He averaged 15.2 points and 12.3 rebounds per game. He again led the nation in double-doubles with 22. He was once more selected to the First Team All-CAA.
Professional Basketball Journey
After college, Devontae Cacok began his professional career.
Time with the Los Angeles Lakers
Devontae was not chosen in the 2019 NBA draft. However, he signed a contract with the Los Angeles Lakers to play in the NBA Summer League. Later, he joined the South Bay Lakers in the NBA G League.
In December 2019, he signed a "two-way contract" with the Los Angeles Lakers. This meant he could play for both the Lakers and their G League team, the South Bay Lakers. On December 28, 2019, he had a career-high 19 rebounds and scored 22 points in a game.
At the end of the G League season, Devontae was recognized for his great play. He was named to the All-NBA G League First Team. He averaged 19.4 points and 11.4 rebounds per game. He was also named to the League's All-Rookie Team. On August 13, 2020, he played his first NBA game for the Lakers. He scored six points and grabbed five rebounds. He was part of the Lakers team that won the NBA championship in 2020.
Playing for the San Antonio Spurs
In October 2021, the San Antonio Spurs signed Devontae. He also played for their G League team, the Austin Spurs. In March 2022, his contract with the San Antonio Spurs became a standard NBA deal.
Motor City Cruise and European Teams
In September 2022, Devontae signed with the Portland Trail Blazers, but he was later waived. In November 2022, he joined the Motor City Cruise in the G League.
In February 2023, Devontae moved to Europe. He signed with CSKA Moscow in Russia. In July 2023, he signed a two-year deal with Virtus Bologna in Italy. With Virtus Bologna, he helped the team win the Italian Supercup in 2023. He left the Italian club in November 2024.
