Dewdney Peak is a mountain located in British Columbia, Canada. It is sometimes unofficially called Hatzic Mountain. This peak is the most southwestern part of the Douglas Ranges.
Dewdney Peak is found in the Lower Mainland region of southern British Columbia. It sits to the east of an area called Hatzic Prairie. The mountain is also north of the community of Dewdney, British Columbia, which is where it gets its name.
Exploring Dewdney Peak
Dewdney Peak is a popular spot for outdoor activities like hiking. You can reach the mountain's trails from its east side. The main way to get there is by using the Norrish Creek Forest Service Road. This road is right next to the east side of the peak.
Hiking Trails and Memorial Cabin
There are two main trails on the east side that lead up Dewdney Peak. The hike to the top is sometimes called "The Dewdney Grind." This trail leads to a special place called the Ben Von Hardenberg memorial cabin. This cabin was built to remember Ben Von Hardenberg. He was a local firefighter who sadly passed away in a helicopter accident in 2003.
